Took the Cowboy statium tour on Wed.  The place is a site to see, huge but also extremely nice in every detail.  The first thing you see as you enter the stadium is a statue of former coach Tom Landry.

View of field below.  Currently in the process of replacing the artificail turf.  The field is a 14 inch thick concrete slab.  Turf goes down in 5 yard wide strips rolled out from one side to the other.  Velcro is glued to the concrete surface.  The turf is made in two parts.  First a rubber pad goes next to the concrete slab and then the actual artificail turf is placed on the rubber pad.  The 5 yard strips are held in place by the Velcro.  After turf is down small rubber beads (about half the size of a BB) are spread over the turf.  The beads sink down into the turf and allow the player cleats to release during play.  They also act like tiny ball bearings that allow the players to slide across the the field when tackled.

Jerry Jones private suite.  Normally only Jerry Jones and his two sons occupy this suite during a game.  He has another suite directly below this room for 120 of his closest friends.

Acording to our tour guide Jerry owns both the Cowboy football team and the statium.  Total stadium cost of a little over $1,200,000,000.  Initial estimate prior to the start of construction was $650,000,000.  Not much left over for cheerleader outfits.
